A downtown Boulder street corner

Boulder

A festival you can walk to.

Boulder holds the Sundance Film Festival in a downtown you can cross on foot. This is where the venues sit relative to the centre of town, measured the way a guest actually experiences it, in minutes walked, not miles driven.

Five minutes on foot

Boulder Theater · eTown Hall

Both sit on the downtown grid within a few blocks of the Pearl Street mall.

Ten minutes on foot

Dairy Arts Center · Macky Auditorium · Boulder High School · Casey Middle School

Just off the core: the Dairy to the east, Macky at the near edge of the CU campus, Boulder High along the creek, and Casey Middle north of downtown.

A short drive

Chautauqua Auditorium · Cinemark

Outside a comfortable walk in January. Chautauqua sits at the base of the Flatirons, Cinemark east of the centre.

Fifteen venues are confirmed for the festival. Most sit downtown or just off it, including Boulder Theater, eTown Hall, the Dairy Arts Center, Boulder High School, Casey Middle School and the library's Canyon Theater. Three more theaters sit on the University of Colorado campus, with Chautauqua and Cinemark a short drive from the center. Source: sundance.org, bvsd.org and 9news.com.

Walk times are stated as bands rather than measured routes. Boulder has a creek path, a pedestrian mall and a hill on one side, so straight-line distance is not walking time here.

What else is in reach

Pearl Street

Four pedestrian blocks of restaurants, bars and shops, closed to cars and open year round.

The trail network

Boulder's open space trails start at the edge of town rather than a drive away.

The festival itself

The venues cluster rather than sprawl, which is the whole reason a walkable stay works here.
